| Stroud
is located on the northern fringe of the Hunter
Region and was so named because of
its striking resemblance to the lush English
Cotswolds. As one of the earliest regions to
be settled by the A.A. Company, Stroud's buildings
and history date back to the 1800s.
Abundant rainfall
and rich soils make Stroud a picturesque rural
area. Cattle and poultry farming have been the
main agricultural activities up until 1998 when
a number of boutique vineyards were established
with the aim of producing wines with the Valley's
unique "terroir".
